I'm not sure the time comparison of displaying the hit key makes much sense, honestly. When I type, for example, I don't wait for each symbol to appear; I write the whole line of code. So even if it appears 0.1 seconds later, I won't notice it.
Apart from that, even if you did care about displaying every symbol and actually waited those 100 milliseconds, you can still be writing at a speed of 60 / 0.1 = 600 symbols per minute, which is about 120 words per minute. This is far above average for typing speed.
Nevertheless, I'm interested in where Zed will eventually end up. If they can somehow make plugins from VSCode compatible with their editor, they would become an actual competitor. And if they add more unique AI-based features, or perhaps create a better copilot than Microsoft's, I would seriously consider switching.
