I totally agree. But getting into a good university isn't a possibility that everyone has, so there's still a question - should you focus on self-development, getting experience in coding, learning practical skills and thinking, or focus on getting into a good university (that will require good grades, decent resume, essay-writing skills, and sometimes money, housing in different city and other things)?
For example, I had a friend in my school who was working part-time as web developer, and he switched to full-time after finishing school. He had a few years of experience at that moment, so university seemed pretty useless for him, as he could apply to middle positions already.
